The Killing Breed

1874 Philadelphia. As the United States tries to recover from the War Between the States, the city of Philadelphia is undergoing changes of its own. Large expanses of green are being taken over by horse-drawn carriages and street cars and buildings are springing up virtually overnight. It's the kind of place where smart and savvy Civil War veteran Wilton McCleary can make a name as a city detective, protecting a great and growing town in the last years of the 19th century.
