The American Embassy in Moscow watched the sudden activity at KGB Headquarters and called in all its people. The KGB watched everyone arrive and called a conference of it's own. Both sides wanted to know the same thing "What in the hell is going on"? The KGB had one more question: who kidnapped Sakharov and his portable laser? With the American President on his way to Moscow, this was no time to have that weapon missing. As the governments and their agencies begin to play their game, CIA chief analyst for Soviet Activities, Wallace Mahoney and Colonel Yuri Zamyatin of the Second Chief Directorate find themselves working together as they did during the closing days of WWII, but this time, not only couldn't they trust each other, they couldn't trust their orders, either. The President was due to arrive in a few days; they needed the answers sooner.
