Journalist Holland Bartel thought nothing of misrepresenting herself to get a story or discover what had happened to the millions left in her late brother's control by their wanton, distant, long-dead mother. Raised in European boarding schools, Holland hadn't truly known her promiscuous mother or much older brother. She hadn't even known that her brother was ill until she received a letter from the grave informing her that he'd become a Christian and hoped to see her in Heaven. What else could she do but travel to Arkansas from St. Louis to work undercover at the church that had obviously bilked her late brother of money--and time--that should have been hers?
Account executive Samson Cody, is the pride and joy of his adopted parents, Pastor Eli and wife Anna, as well as the handsome drummer of the popular variety praise band, HOBBY RUN. Tall, dark, and handsome, a well-dressed version of Rock 'n' Roll, Sam is the lynchpin that holds together the various musical genres that make up the band. He's also a dedicated Christian, honest to a fault, and waiting for God to bring him the right wife.
Of course, Holland Bartel cannot possibly be that woman, no matter how drawn he is to her or how often they are thrown together. She has no frame of reference for the faith that anchors his life. The woman speaks several languages yet has no understanding of the terminology that is part of every Christian's daily life, and everything he seems to say and do to try to help her understand simply confuses her.
Even as her brother continues to reach out to her from the grave and she meets previously unknown family, Holland finds herself feeling more and more alone--except for Sam. As her world continues to fall apart and old traumas resurface, Sam becomes her personal lynchpin, but her dishonesty comes back to destroy the trust they've been building.
How can a proven liar who has lost everything, including the only man she has ever loved, possibly survive a shattered heart and spirit? Could it be her late brother knew the secret and God would make a way?
