Commoners Round Table

In 1251 London, a group of five artisans meet every day to eat in the Three Staves tavern. When one is found murdered in his home, Graeme Ore, in his new position as one of the Sheriff's men, is charged with finding the killer. The evidence is confusing: a piece of charcoal has been left in the victim's mouth, a child's footprints are found outside the door. And then, a second diner dies, and Ore realizes that he must stop a killer intent on murdering all five. But why?

Meanwhile, Gavin Rownt finds himself the object of a noblewoman's affections. As Ore searches for a murderer, Rownt grapples with the age-old question: what does a woman want?
