Shelter From The Storm

(2024)
(The sixth book in the Green Berets: Will Kane series)
A novel by

Diehard in the Rocky Mountains. Just prior to Christmas 1978, Former Green Beret Will Kane drives away from New York City with no particular destination in mind. All he knows is he had to get away from the death and destruction he’s been faced with in his hometown.

But then he gets a call from his former mentor, CIA spook, Plaikos who informs him that his ex-wife, whom he hasn’t seen since their son died a decade ago, is holed up in a small, isolated Colorado town.

As he drives into town he runs into what appears to be the sheriff, but Kane’s combat instincts rule and he guns the man down before he does the same to Kane. Then the pass he’s entering through is blown and Kane’s Jeep is wiped out in the ensuing avalanche.

And that’s only the beginning of his problems.

Meanwhile, in New York City, his business partner, Thao, is facing down the Mafia which is determined to take over their diner across from the stub of the defunct High Line. And we learn more about the mission the two of them were on in 1969 in Cambodia.

Nothing, as usual, is as it seems.

Kirkus Reviews. “Sinewy writing enhances this already potent action fix. An adrenaline cocktail from start to finish.”
