These five short stories have been taken from two previous publications of mine, namely 'Kind of Woman' and 'Losing Grip'. I decided to put them all together in one volume, after re-editing and revising them a little, because they all feature the stories of gay men and I wanted them to be in one place so the reader, whether they're gay or not, can be taken into the world of each character and find something interesting. They're all dark tales with somewhat macabre endings but I hope that you find something delicious in all of them. First up there's DEAN who's struggling to break free of his overly possessive mother but when he does find a way out, will it lead him to happiness? Then there's COLIN who finds love whilst on a business trip to Russia but will it be thwarted by the differing customs of east and west? FATHER JIM is happy with his vocation as a priest and lives his mission to serve and to minister to the fullest degree. But when he meets a handsome police officer in the course of his work he's reminded once again that his celebate status is a heavy cross to bear. Moving on to ALEX who's had to live with the misery of domestic violence from his wife for years but when the gay man next door falls in love with him he realizes that the feeling is mutual. But what will his wife and her monstrous temper have to say about it? And finally there's SIMON. Talk about a midlife crisis. He's lost his home and his money in one foul swoop and finds that his family and friends aren't exactly falling over themselves to help him get back on his feet. Then he bumps into the man who's always been the love of his life and finds out that had it not been for the vicious and damaging lies of someone close to them both they could've been together for years. How will he cope with the knowledge of such a loss on top of everything else?
