Night of Destruction

(2021)
(The sixth book in the Battleground Vietnam series)
A novel by

The Rockpile is a US Firebase south of the DMZ, of critical importance to stem the huge numbers of North Vietnamese troops pouring over the border in readiness for a new offensive against South Vietnam.

The commander goes missing, and they assume he was kidnapped by the Communists. Until a mortar shell churns up the ground and uncovers his body. A swift examination shows he was deliberately murdered, and the evidence points to the perpetrator being an American soldier.

They hand the investigation to Warrant Officer Carl Yeager and Sergeant Ray Massey. When they reach the Rockpile, they meet a hostile reception, and it is obvious certain parties do not intend for the truth to come out. For what they have discovered, if true, is beyond belief. A senior American general has conspired to commit a monstrous war crime.

The cover-up continues with the destruction of evidence and an attempt to kill them. While escaping from ‘friendly’ fire, they have no choice but to cross the DMZ and enter North Vietnam. Where every hand is turned against them, every face is hostile, and every hand carries an AK-47. If they manage to get back to the South, they can expect a reception no less hostile.

Night of Destruction is an incredible and fictional story based on the war in South Vietnam. A story of brave, tough soldiers fighting for their lives in the dense, hostile Vietnamese jungle. Often hindered by dubious and sometimes corrupt officials from Saigon and Washington.

A full-length novel by the bestselling author of many Spec Ops books. These include the popular SEAL Team Bravo stories, Heroes of Afghanistan, Raider, Echo Six, and Devil's Guard titles.
