Jessica Moor recommends
The Grief Doctor (2024)
Jack Anderson
"There are plenty of thrillers that keep you turning the pages, but only a few that live in your mind long after the final page is turned. Jack Anderson has written a thriller that is as intelligent, thoughtful and humane as it is compelling and addictive. A talent to watch."
River Sing Me Home (2023)
Eleanor Shearer
"A powerful story, beautifully told. Shearer skilfully depicts the cruelty of the British slave trade, contrasted with one mother's indomitable love for her children, and her burning will to live. An empathic, elegantly rendered and deeply humane novel."
The Second Woman (2021)
Louise Mey
"Brutal and brilliant, The Second Woman is a razor-sharp dissection of the dynamics of coercive control. Louise Mey's elegant prose paints a picture that is frightening and uncompromising, yet tinged with hope for a new and better world."
