Sam Carew is a bricklayer with ambition. Working with his father as a bricklayer is not the life he envisioned when he left his cushy job as Detective Sergeant to seek out more than petty career criminals and delinquent youths. Unsworth is not the most exciting or picturesque of towns, either: in fact, Sam Carew might be tempted to say that dropping a bomb on the place would cause about $18 million worth of improvements.
