Blaine Duchamp is trying to scratch out a living and mind his own business when his wayward brother Tom comes to visit. Tom and his trail pard, Chip, don't stay long, and in fact, they could use fresh horses. Blaine helps out with a trade. Tom says they'll stop again on their way back through, but Blaine has his doubts. His doubts grow when a tracker shows up, looking for a reward for two men named Tom and Chip. When one of the horses Blaine traded comes home without a saddle, Blaine decides to follow the tracker and find out who went where.
