When Wall Street secretary Martha Underwood accepted a position at the Carter Convalescent Home for Crippled Children on Long Island, her friends thought her foolish to give up her successful career. But this did not discourage Martha, whom the superintendent of the Home soon instructed in social welfare. Unfortunately, the course did not include lessons in how to distinguish between protestations of love and the real thing - an education which Martha had to acquire for herself.
