Lainey’s been told a lot about Prospector’s Rest--but she isn’t ready for her boyfriend to go missing there. Okay, even if he’s not actually her boyfriend yet.
As the sister of one of the Men Who Stitch, Lainey feels lucky that she and her brother have scored places in the town’s first crafts intern program. Now, instead of just hearing about Di, Mac, and all the other fun people in Prospector’s Rest, North Carolina (a small mountain town which survives entirely on its crafters) she gets to actually go to the local high school and spend time with the people at all its many stores. She even gets to live with Sheriff Mac’s mom, as well as her two giant Saint Bernard puppies (Lindt and Toblerone), and the Sheriff’s Department’s youngest and cutest officer, Irving Fitch, better known as ‘IF.’
But things aren’t going as she’d hoped. While, since she was born with a name like Shirley MacLaine Contreras (and with a brother with a name like John F. Kennedy Contreras), she expects a little weird in her world, she doesn’t expect the Crafts Fête she’s heard so much about to suddenly have a series of pickpocketing incidents. And then IF starts acting distant and weird.
But that’s not the worst of it. Now, IF has gone missing. Even if he isn’t actually her boyfriend, she’s still worried, and--worse--so are Mac, Di, and the other members of the department. Together with these kind (if incredibly nosy) adults, as well as their official doggie mascots and odd birds, they’ve got to figure out who’s trying to ruin the fête. And they also have to find what’s happened to IF, before he stays missing for good.
Enjoy an outsider’s view on the usual antics of Prospector’s Rest, as this 16-year-old crafter tries to find her voice, hone her craft, and track down the missing boy who makes her blush in this charming cozy mystery full of humor and hope.
Set in a fun, fictional town in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Men Who Stitch diverse, cozy mysteries will have you wanting to move in with the colorful residents of Prospector’s Rest and beg for another tale of the adventures of its odd citizenry.
