Black Tie Blackmail
(2025)(The fourth book in the Men Who Stitch Mystery series)
A Novella by Kate Silvers
Its the wedding of the century! Well, for Prospectors Rest, anyway.
Yes, the tiny North Carolina mountain town which mostly survives on crafting is abuzz with preparations for the double wedding of Sheriff MacBeth (Mac) Welles and her man, Officer (and secret crafter) Obadiah (Di) Goode, alongside her deputy, Alex Martinez, and his sweetie, Officer Candice Worthy. In fact, the whole town of 300 (or thereabouts) is invited.
The one person whos not so excited is Mac herself. Does she want to finally begin her official life together with the man shes been in love with since they were both in the playpen? Absolutely! Does she want to get all gussied up and trotted around in the dog-and-pony show of the actual nuptials themselves? Not so much.
Still, Macs desire to get the big day over with takes a backseat when the entire Sheriffs Department starts getting old-school blackmail notes, with all the letters cut out and pasted in from magazines as though its still the 1970s or something. And then one of these I know what you did when . . . notes goes a step further and makes it clear that its the wedding itself which is being targeted. And, given the persistence of the notes and how much the blackmailers know about the department, its hard to say how far they may go.
Now, along with the planning and dress fittings, Mac, Di, and her department, including their doggie mascots, Sgt. Peewee and Lt. Fifi, as well as the rest of their growing posse of pooches and all of Dis Men Who Stitch friends who are acting as his groomsmen, have to find the blackmailer and figure out their intentions before the big day. Otherwise, there may not be a wedding--or, if things go really badly, much of anyone left in the town.
Join Mac and Di as they try to get through their big day unscathed and blackmail free, as youre invited to a wedding which only Prospectors Rest could put together.
Set in a fun, fictional town in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Men Who Stitch diverse, cozy mysteries will have you wanting to move in with the colorful residents of Prospectors Rest and beg for another tale of the adventures of its odd citizenry.
