Elections aren’t usually too contentious in Prospector’s Rest--but nobody told the thieves that.

It’s Election Day in December in the tiny mountain town of Prospector’s Rest, North Carolina, which should mean nothing more than a bit of glad-handing, as the various mayoral prospects try to win over the last few voters of this town of 300 (or thereabouts). But this one is different. From the not terribly bright high school boys scribbling insults about “Velveeta” on Mayor Velveteen’s signs to her longtime rival’s slurs on her looks (she really doesn’t look like a witchy frog), this election is a bit more charged than most. But when somebody manages to steal the town’s election machines, things take a more sinister turn.

It’s up to Sheriff MacBeth (Mac) Welles, her boyfriend and devoted crafter Obadiah (Di) Goode and his Men Who Stitch friends, along with Sgt. Peewee and their other department pooches, to sniff out the thief, but it’s no easy job. In only six months, Mayor Velveteen has cleaned up the mayor’s office (which means no more bribes to the City Council and others) and is turning the town into a tourist haven. From the Ladies Aid members she won’t flatter, to the billionaire vacation home owners she’s trying to make pay taxes, to the band parents who aren’t getting a second year of new uniforms for their kids, and several other disgruntled parties, not everyone’s on her side, and the suspects are mounting.

Sorting through it all, Mac has to rely on old friends and new, but, the further she looks, the more dangerous things become. First it’s the election machines, then the disappearance of her youngest officer. Add to that an attack on her newly-appointed tech guy and the drugging of Mayor Velveteen, and Mac and Di are up against a whole new kind of villain.

Put on a “Vote for Velveteen” crocheted frog pin, listen to an oompah band play Iron Maiden, and join Mac, Di, Sgt. Peewee, and the gang in their third big adventure to find the thieves before Election Day!

Set in a fun, fictional town in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Men Who Stitch diverse, cozy mysteries will have you wanting to move in with the colorful residents of Prospector’s Rest and beg for another tale of the adventures of its odd citizenry.
