The Bride Who Rescues Strays
(2025)(The sixth book in the Bride Who series)
A novel by Patricia PacJac Carroll
Julia McCanless had come from a wealthy family. Had being the keyword. Never did she believe her mother, father, and three brothers would perish at sea on the way back from Europe. She’d stayed at the family home in Dallas, Texas, to look after her prized mare. Now, she was alone. Still wealthy, but that created more problems than it solved. Her money brought suitors out of the woodwork. So, how was she going to find a man who would love her for herself and not her money?
After reading a story, she got the idea of making herself appear as a poor woman who rescued strays while looking for Mr. Right. In the book, it worked, and the character found the love of his life. Was it possible for a fairytale ending in real life? If nothing else, she would enjoy the animals she picked up along the way. Father had always forbidden her to bring home the many strays she found.
Caleb Patterson finally had the downpayment for the ranch he’d been looking at for the last three years. He’d worked hard and sold the best of his horses to get the money. He just needed a little luck to trap a herd of wild horses he’d been watching, and he’d be able to train them and pay off the rest of the ranch. Then he’d look for the right woman to marry. The ranch was the first of his dreams, a family was the second part.
Where he was going to find the right woman, he wasn’t sure. So far, he’d not met any lady who tempted him to want to live with her for the rest of his life. She would have to be pretty, of course, smart, hard-working, and a Christian. Caleb wouldn’t put up with a silly girl with no sense. Like the horses he trained and sold, she’d have to be of thoroughbred quality. He’d not put up with a stray off the streets.
Genre: Inspirational
