Death Is a Dream

(1967)
A novel by

Beyond the cryonic horizon. "Suspended animation," the doctor had said. "turned out to be simple, once we managed to iron out the bugs. This place is built like a vault. You'll be safe enough in here until we wake you and when we do, we'll have the know-how to cure what's wrong. All you have to do is go to sleep and when you wake, your troubles will be over." Brad Stevens, Twentieth Century physicist, had made the choice and chosen the long cold sleep. It worked out, too, just as the doctor had predicted. There was only one matter nobody had mentioned: the little matter of paying the fee at the future end of the line. For Brad, death had been indeed a dream, but the awakening proved to be an incredible nightmare.
