He'll Hang Before Sundown
(2024)(Book 131 in the Tales of the Old West series)
A novel by Paul L Thompson
A brand new Western adventure from Paul L. Thompson!
Monty Combs was a hard-working fellow, twenty-eight years old. His wife Carla was as beautiful as a spring morning sunrise.
Montys grandfather, Homer Combs, had left him to run the ranch while he and Mary Beth went back to Ohio and took care of things back home. Homer had homesteaded this ranch and farm twenty-five years ago. Over the years, greedy men had tried buying the farm and ranch, but it just wasnt for sale.
Early one afternoon just as dinner was over, Monty saddled two horsesone for him, the other for his six-year-old son, Ronnie. He led them up front of the house and Carla handed him a sack of food. I guess Missy and I will see you two before chore time. Ronnie, take care of your dad. She smiled.
Ronnie was lifted into the saddle then Monty mounted. Itll take over two hours getting to the far east pasture. I just hope we see that pack of wolves.
An hour later, twelve men rode up in the yard with one yelling his head off. Get the hell out here, Monty Combs!
Carla rushed out the door. What in the world are you yelling about?
Were here after Monty! Hell hang before sundown.
Hang! For what?
Gunning down Sheriff Jones.
You are crazy! That is a blasted lie, Cory Watts, and you know it! He isnt here. He and Ronnie rode into town for a few groceries over two hours ago.
Those men turned their horses, headed back to town. Carla ran to the barn and saddled a horse, then sat Missy in the saddle and climbed on behind her. Hang on tight to that saddle horn, honey. We have to get to your daddy and warn him.
Genre: Western
