Sheriff Daskalas told the Pascoe’s about a Tascosa, Texas robbery and shooting. Tiny looked at Travis and Casey. “I’m ashamed of both of you. What if it was me they shot? Wouldn’t you at least try to do something? Well, would you?”
“Well shor Mom, but…”
“No buts about it. That was a mother and her baby that was shot. I’ll hear no more about it. When we get home, I’ll get extra clothes and plenty of food. Both of you check and make sure you have plenty of ammunition. Now I mean it, you make sure and get every one of them. No woman or baby shooter should just go free to do it again.”
Joel looked at her. “Tiny, don’t you think yer pushing the boys a might hard?”
“I certainly do not! They know what to do and will get it done.”
The next morning as they rode off, they both turned and waved one more time at their mother. “Well Travis, we got roped into doing it again.”
“Looks like, just hope we’ll be able to catch um an’ put an end to their killin’ and robbin’.”
“Yeah, I just wish this country had more law. This is their job, it’s what they get paid to do.”
Travis nodded his head. “Reckon so, but maybe that’s why they put such a big bounty on men like this is so maybe bounty hunters will take up the trail.”
“What yer sayin’ is we’re now bounty hunters.”
