Private eye Howie Cross is badly beaten by a couple of thugs, but doesn't know why. Out of action, he asks Deets Shanahan to take on his one current case, but it's far from straightforward. Hugh Dart wants his wife traced; the only thing is, he's just served a 35-year sentence for her murder.
