Driven to create. Forced to destroy. Imagine having the power to create entire solar systems. What would you orbit around the central star? A luxury world? A planet with gorgeous rings or dazzling rain of diamonds at sunset? Or would you begin with a binary star system? It's your choice. Until something goes wrong and cosmic ruin is the only solution. Remy's life and that of his crew will be forfeit thanks to a double-crossing plutocrat. Facing destruction by pirate fleets and savage alien environments, Remy must somehow escape and keep possession of the vital World Engine. Fight alongside him in the solar system he has built and now must destroy if he is to ever again engineer infinity! Q&A Q: Why did you want to write DUST OF STARS? Robert E Vardeman: I've always been a fan of space opera, of the EE "Doc" Smith variety with galaxies smashing together and vast star-spanning conspiracies. Heroes are heroes and villains are villains. The ideas blast off the page and engage the reader's imagination. What better choice than the ability to build entire solar systems, colonizing and populating them with alien life of all kinds, robots and pirates, faster than light space travel using time travel–it's all here! Even better using the alien technology requires the hero to match Indiana Jones at his archeological best to discover the Key to the World Engine in ancient ruins on planets scattered across the cosmos. Q: What about the supporting characters? Along with the hard science thrill of building an entire solar system from scratch, I've postulated panspermia delivering life to the worlds through interstellar currents, asteroids, planetoids and asteroids laden with spires. The core worlds (so far) are populated with human derived genetically engineered beings, but new and wildly different races are planned for future books. And I have always been fascinated by robots and AI. Click Bait is a key character in this and future books. Q: What are others saying about the book? The premier Italian steampunk band, Poison Garden, wrote: A marvelous cosmogonic adventure for those who have a thirst for creative sci-fi storytelling, Vardeman intrigues you within the first pages, catapulting you into a mysterious universe. Q:And? And now you should enjoy the epic sweep of this science fiction tale!
