When Martin Cazalet walks into Scotland Yard claiming he is being poisoned at the nursing home he is staying in, Inspector Treadgold is tasked with investigating the man’s far-fetched claim, just to be on the safe side. Matters take a sinister turn when Cazalet later dies in unusual circumstances as do two other people. At first there seem to be no possible connection between the deaths, except that all three died from anaemia. Treadgold's investigation proves to be a hazardous one than he realises.

First published in 1935, this is a Golden Age murder mystery.
