In this third Quill Hedgehog book, the wicked alley-cat, Mungo Brown, plans to blot out the sun and rule the world. He goes underground to the Kingdom of Grozzieland where he rules the fungus-folk, the Grozzies. When the Grozzies capture Mellowmark policemen, Mack and Mick Magpie, the Mayor of Mellowmark, Nero Squinks, goes to Quill Hedgehog for help. With the aid of Hoot Owl's robot, Charley, they venture down to Grozzieland and rescue not only their friends, but the Grozzzies, too - from their own folly!
"The Quill Hedgehog novels were originally written for the 8 - 13 age-range, but through their satire of society they have developed a cult following among adults and children alike. Doris Palmer, former president of the Library Association, described them as 'utterly delightful books!' "
