The Library At Mount Char (2015)
Scott Hawkins
"Don't pick up this book unless you want to read something you've absolutely never read before. The Library at Mount Char is funny, bizarre, moving, frightening, and surreal. The most original work I've read in ages."
thumb
Soft Apocalypse (2011)
Will McIntosh
"Soft Apocalypse isn't about a bunch of cold-eyed survivalists taming the holocaust with guns and skill, it's about a group of ordinary people confronted by the fall of their own civilization, struggling not just for survival, but for their own humanity."

A Shadow in Summer (2006)
(Long Price Quartet, book 1)
Daniel Abraham
"In addition to the creation of an architecturally-perfect fantasy world filled with a fascinating, highly distinctive set of characters, Daniel Abraham has introduced into fantasy one brilliant, stunning new idea, a magic system in which the Word is made Flesh."
