(The second book in the Area 51: Project series)
A Story by

It’s November of 1963 and Washington, D.C. Metro Police Homicide Detective John “Black Jack” Morrison finds himself in hot water with the Chief of Detectives – again. His penance for assaulting another police officer during a bar fight is a trip back to Area 51 to investigate a suspicious plane crash involving the new SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance aircraft which happened an hour after the young American President was assassinated in Dallas. The Chief is an old OSS colleague of the man who runs Area 51, and this is an investigation too sensitive to involve the G-men.

When Jack arrives back in the desert, he finds the list of suspects who might have sabotaged the new SR-71 Blackbird long and distinguished. Their motives range from revenge, to money, to of course, sex. Teaming up with a detective from LAPD’s famed Robbery – Homicide Division he met eight years earlier, Jack works through alibis faster than a fifth of Cutty Sark. In the end, it’s not a possible murder that haunts him, it’s what really appears to be going on in parts of Area 51.

The second in the AREA 51: Project series, AREA 51: Project Onyx is a noirish police procedural worthy of the author F.X. Regan’s long experience as a police officer, retired FBI agent, and private investigator.
