On a golfing holiday, playwright and criminologist Trevor Lowe and his assistant are on their way to see Sir Reginald Allerdyce. They encounter an old friend, Detective-Inspector Shadgold, investigating a criminal known as the diamond bandit and three robberies committed in four weeks - all involving diamonds.
When Lowe discovers that Sir Reginald has been murdered, he suddenly becomes involved in the case. So begins a chain of events that plunges all three of them into deadly danger...
