Death is waiting...
Alexander Kielmann pursued his nefarious activities with impunity... blackmail, burglary, even murder. At Scotland Yard there were suspicions, but no proof available. Then Kielmann received a letter:
'You have ruined lives, but death is waiting for you... Your associates will suffer... They will receive their just deserts, you yourself being reserved for the last. I am Death, and I enclose my card.'
A visiting card showed a drawing of a monk in a white habit and cowl. Who is the White Friar?
Gerald Verner (1897-1980) was the pseudonym of British writer John Robert Stuart Pringle. Born in London, Verner wrote more than 120 novels that have been translated in over 35 languages, and many of his books have been adapted into films, radio serials and stage plays.
