(2017)(The third book in the Simon Gale series)
A novel by Chris Verner and Gerald Verner
What incredible fate had overtaken William Baker? The man had vanished - literally into thin air! He had walked out of his house at a quarter past nine and disappeared . . . but leaving behind his clothes, lying in a heap on the pavement . . .
The village police were completely baffled, and their unease increased when Baker's nude dead body was later found, brutally stabbed in the back.
The case of William Baker was a mystery only one man could solve; it was once again down to the wiles of larger-than-life Simon Gale to uncover the seemingly impossible truth.
The Snark Was A Boojum was to be the third book to feature Gerald Verner's renowned detective Simon Gale. The book was divided into three parts commencing with The Vanishing. Through numerous vicissitudes and removals, the author's son Christopher managed to hang on to the unfinished manuscript over the next 60 years. Chris Verner has finished his father's novel, now presented in this new edition of a macabre masterpiece of detective fiction!
